Still on the road

Just a quick sign of life here, over instant coffee and spaghetti for breakfast. We're thundering through the Philippine countryside, sampling lots of rivers, measuring discharge with soldiers on their day off (and wearing only their underwear, or what looks like it anyway) towing us through the raging torrents and whatnot. Very exciting, all in all.

More later.

Hi Herdis,
I envy you! Im here freezing my ass off in Illinois. Give my regards to Carlo Arcilla, I guess he's been really busy as the new director of the institute, he never returned my emails. Would love some dried mangoes when you get back, LOL. Have a great trip. I'll be doing my fieldwork in the summer.

Lára, gott að heyra að Starbucks-kortin eru að gera sig :)

Raymond: Caloy says hi! He's incredibly busy, I think I've seen him for a total of 2 or 3 hours since I came to the Philippines. Good to hear you're coming here in the summer, where will you be working?

ill be working at mayon volcano. sampling lava flows and tephras. i just hope i get the funding from gsa which i applied for. yea, talk to him finally and he's swamped with too much admin work. i heard their getting xrf, xrd, and icp-ms this year. good for them and maybe good for me also so i wont be bringing big chunks of rocks here anymore. are you staying at PHIVOLCS? -raymond
